Two big things happened last night. First, Council set the gears in motion for the largest bond package in the city’s history: $925 million. Second, that big pot of money includes what is by far the largest amount of funding for affordable housing in Austin’s history.
Here’s a look at what the affordable housing program includes. This is the amendment authored by CM Ann Kitchen that significantly upped the housing funding from what staff and the Bond Election Advisory Task Force recommended:
