Can Austin make a safe left turn?
Left turn signals are saving lives. We need more.
When I see an article about the city claiming a major reduction in serious injuries and fatalities, my instinct is to proceed with caution. Sometimes the progress touted by the transportation department is not compelling once you look under the hood. But in this case, it appears we've got some legit evidence of success.
The Transportation & Public Works Department a few weeks ago released data showing a major reduction in crashes at intersections that had recently implemented measures to protect left turns, most notably left turn signals. Look at these numbers!
