Get outta the bike lane
That's the rule!
Parking in a bike lane is now unequivocally illegal in the city of Austin, Texas. And the city no longer needs to put up a sign to tell you so.
The measure, put into motion last year through a resolution by CM Paige Ellis, creates a new violation for blocking a "signed or marked bike lane," electric vehicle charging station or right-of-way closure area during special events.
Transportation & Public Works Director Richard Mendoza says the next three months will be an "educational" period where the department will only issue warnings.
