Homeless org: there's a better way
Is 'rapid rehousing' destined to fail?
I talked this morning to Chris Baker, founder and executive director of The Other Ones Foundation, the nonprofit that runs Camp Esperanza, the homeless community just west of US-183 in Montopolis.
Baker, who you might recognize as the subject of episode 8 of Season 6 of Queer Eye ("Gimme Shelter"), yesterday posted a plea for help on Instagram. He urged supporters to contact their Council members in support of the $1.7 million in operating funds for Esperanza that has not been included in the city manager's proposed budget.
Council is scheduled to adopt the budget tomorrow. Will it respond to Baker's call for help?
