New APD chief, TPID delay, etc.
Does I-35 opposition stand a chance?
See you on Monday!
A new chief
City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Robin Henderson as interim chief of the Austin Police Department. Henderson, who started out as a cop at APD in 1997, most recently served as chief of staff to outgoing Chief Joseph Chacon.
Henderson's appointment has been warmly received by officers, among whom she is popular. Reform advocates, however, view her as firmly rooted in the conservative APD establishment and do not have high hopes that she will any more receptive to change than her predecessors. But who knows?
