Overpromising, underdelivering on the corridors
We were promised smart corridors. Seven years later, they're still pretty dumb.
In February of 2018, Mayor Steve Adler tweeted an optimistic update on the $480 "smart corridor" improvements that voters had approved as part of the 2016 mobility bond that he had championed.
"Implementing the 2016 Mobility Bond will cut traffic delays by 25% and collisions by 15% on the streets we most use all over the city. The Smart Corridor Plan is beginning to look like a Genius Corridor Plan."
Seven years later we should be happy to settle for something that falls far short of genius. "Competent corridors" would more than suffice.
