Traditional transit is cheaper
The high cost of public ride-hailing.
Recently Cap Metro touted the millionth ride of its five-year-old on-demand service, Pickup.
Pickup is a poor man's Uber. If you live in one of the zones below, you can book a ride to a destination within the zone for only $1.25. You may or may not end up sharing a ride with others.
Some of the zones are classic transit deserts with little to no regular bus service (Manor, Lago Vista). Others are not (at least not by Sunbelt standards). It's not clear to me why these particular areas were targeted, but that's a subject for a future newsletter.
